Discreet Bed Bug Treatment for Hotels and Lodging

Bug Shockers provides discreet bed bug inspection and treatment for hotels, motels, extended stay properties, and short term rentals across Wichita and the Kansas City metro.

Family owned, three generations, no contracts required.

One Guest Post Is More Expensive Than the Treatment

That is the math every hotel operator already knows. A room out of service for a day costs you a night’s rate. A review that says "bed bugs" costs you bookings for a year, and it never fully goes away.

So the goal here is not just killing bed bugs. It is handling the situation quietly, quickly, and completely enough that it never becomes a story.

What "Discreet" Actually Means

The word gets used a lot. Here is what it means operationally.

Unmarked arrival on request. If you do not want a pest control logo in the porte cochere at check-in time, say so when you book. We work that out before we show up, not in your lobby.

Off-peak scheduling. Overnight, early morning, or mid-afternoon between checkout and check-in. Your call, and we plan the route around it.

Service entrance and staff elevators. Our technicians go where your staff goes.

No conversations in guest areas. Findings go to your GM, maintenance lead, or whoever you designate. Not to a front desk agent in front of a line of guests.

Plain reporting. Written documentation goes to you, not posted on anything a guest could see.

None of that is exotic. It just requires a company that has done this in a working hotel before and thought about it in advance.

Speed Matters More Here Than Anywhere Else

In a home, a few days of delay makes the job somewhat harder.

In a hotel, a few days of delay means the room turned over three times, and bed bugs left in luggage that is now in another city.

So when you call about a suspected room, we prioritize it. Text us a photo of what housekeeping found and we can usually confirm or rule out bed bugs the same day, before anyone blocks a room unnecessarily.

That last part matters. Plenty of "bed bug" reports turn out to be carpet beetles, bat bugs, or fabric damage. Taking a revenue room out of service for a false alarm is its own cost. A photo takes thirty seconds and can save you the night.

The Inspection: Why We Look at More Than the Reported Room

A bed bug report on room 214 is a report about room 214 and its neighbors.

Bed bugs travel through wall voids, along shared plumbing and electrical chases, under door sweeps, and inside housekeeping carts. By the time one room is confirmed, adjacent rooms are the question that actually matters.

Our inspection covers the reported room in full: mattress seams and piping, box spring, headboard and the wall behind it, nightstands, upholstered seating, curtain hems, luggage racks, baseboards, outlet covers, and picture frames.

It also covers the rooms on either side, plus the rooms directly above and below. Corridor baseboards and shared walls between those units. Housekeeping and laundry staging areas, which are the most common transfer point in a property. And any room previously flagged, if you have the history.

You get a written report with what was found and where. If adjacent rooms are clean, that is documented too, and that documentation is worth having.

Treatment and Room Downtime

Every property is laid out differently and every situation is a different size, so the plan is built around yours.

What we do is a layered, room by room approach: targeted professional-grade applications into the seams, joints, voids, and harborage points where bed bugs actually live, combined with precision vacuuming and structured follow-up service.

What we do not do is treat the visible surface of a mattress and call the room clear. That is how a property ends up treating the same room four times.

On downtime: your technician will tell you what the room needs before it goes back into inventory, and that answer depends on the property and the situation. You will get a straight number, not a hopeful one.

On how many services: bed bug work is priced per treatment with no contract. Eggs hatch on their own schedule, so a job is finished when the activity is gone, not when a calendar says it should be. We will not quote a fixed visit count up front, because nobody can do that honestly. We will keep working it with you until the room is clear.

Documentation You Can Actually Use

Hotels need a paper trail for reasons homeowners do not.

Every service generates written documentation of what was inspected, what was found, what was treated, and what was recommended. That record supports you in three places.

Guest complaints. A documented inspection and response history is the difference between a defensible position and a he-said-she-said.

Insurance and ownership. Management companies and owners ask for this. Have it before they ask.

Brand standards. If you are flagged, your brand has requirements. Our reporting is built to satisfy them.

Training Your Housekeeping Staff Is the Real Program

Here is the thing that actually prevents the review.

Your housekeepers are in every room, every day. They are the best bed bug detection system money can buy, and most properties never train them.

A housekeeper who knows to check the mattress seam and the headboard wall during a strip, and who knows exactly who to tell without fear of getting in trouble, catches infestations at one or two bugs.

A property without that training catches them when a guest posts a photo.

We will train your housekeeping and maintenance staff on what to look for, where to look, and what to do when they find something. It takes under an hour and it is the highest return thing on this entire page.

Ask for it when you schedule.

This Is a Team Effort

Bed bugs do not get eliminated by a pest control company working alone. They get eliminated by a pest control company and a property staff working the same plan.

We treat the harborage points. Your team handles the linens, the staging areas, the reporting protocol, and holding rooms when we say hold them. Skip either half and it stretches out.

So we make sure your people actually understand the why, not just the checklist.

The inspection is thorough. Reported room plus neighbors, plus staging areas. We are building a map, not confirming a complaint.

The education is the part that sticks. Your GM and maintenance lead will know what was found, where, what we did, and what happens next. In plain language.

We do not disappear between services. Text us a photo at any hour. If housekeeping finds something in a different room next Tuesday, we want to know Tuesday. Not at the next scheduled visit.

We work it as a team until there are no bed bugs left. That is the finish line.

What We Will Not Do

We will not tell you it is worse than it is.

Bed bugs are the easiest pest in this industry to sell with fear, and hospitality is the easiest place to do it because the downside is so public. We are not going to work that way.

If the inspection turns up one room and a light population, we will tell you exactly that. If housekeeping found a carpet beetle, we will tell you that too and you will not owe us for the answer.

No contracts. Not now, not ever. You are not locked into an annual agreement to get a response when you need one. If we handle this well, you will call us next time because we handled it well.

Treat people how we want to be treated. That has been the business since 2011.
